Association Grants 


The Southern Counties Baptist Association has several funds for those based in SCBA churches. The different forms of grants are available to support mission and ministry within local church contexts across Southern Counties.


The following grants are available:


Mission Focus Grant

To enable Baptist Churches to respond to the mission needs of their community as part of their ongoing work and ministry. These are one-off grants for new projects (or new initiatives within existing projects). The projects must benefit people from the community which the church is seeking to serve.
Maximum amount that can be applied for: £500 per church or missional context.

Sabbatical and CMD GrantsGrants 1

To enable ministers and church leaders (those in positions of ministry, including CYF pastors/workers) to develop their further theological study and practice, e.g. purchase of books, training or attending a conference.
Maximum amount that can be applied for: £400 per person.

Support Grant

To support participants in opportunities relating to Christian service or ministry within a Christian context, e.g. Summer Steps team with Latin Link, DNA.
Maximum amount that can be applied for: £500 per person.

Confidential Fund

To help when time of special need arise among those in positions of ministry within the Association.
This fund is overseen by the Regional Ministry Team Leaders who can be approached directly regarding the fund. Alternatively, an approach may also be made through any member of the Regional Ministry Team.

Criteria for Grants

Grants are only available for projects that reflect the aims of Southern Counties Baptist Association.
These can be found here.

The following criteria are offered as a guidelines to those considering applying for a grant. A successful application will need to reflect most of these criteria.
Successful applications to this fund will:
  • reflect the strategic priorities, vision and values of SCBA (see link above).
  • reflect a spirit of partnership and collaboration with other parties.
  • be accompanied by a commendation from the local church in which the application is rooted.
  • be a mission-oriented project, reflecting God's holistic mission.
  • have a positive impact on your own spiritual development or enhance your own Continued Ministerial Development.
  • not be given for purely administrative purposed.
  • reflect Baptist principles, roots and ethos.

Application ProcessGrants 2

  • The submission of a letter and the application form should be sent to the Association Administrator at: office.administrator@scba.org.uk 
  • A commendation of support from the individual's home church or employer, as appropriate, will be sought by SCBA.
  • Applications will be considered by the Staff, Finance and Administration Working Group. However, if it is related to a mission project, it will be considered in the first instance by the Mission Development Group for a recommendation.
  • By applying for a grant, you are committing to sharing your story and outcomes with SCBA for use to share across the Association and Baptists Together (this does not apply to the Confidential Fund).
  • Applications for the Confidential Fund will be considered by the Co-Team Leaders of the Association.
  • All applications are subject to availability and some of the grants may include closing dates.
